TB-500 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, the LKKTETQ motif, acetylated at the N-terminus. Thymosin beta-4 is the principal G-actin sequestering protein in mammalian cells, and the fragment is studied for the same actin-binding behaviour in isolation. Its mechanism is described in the literature as receptor-independent, which distinguishes it structurally from the receptor-agonist compounds catalogued elsewhere in this reference.
